Unlimited Content – That’s the Magic
The Magic of the Internet is that there is no such thing as “the last page”, there is no such thing as The End, nor is there a “wait till tomorrow’s edition” to read the rest of the story. The surfer sets her or his own limits – she or he decides when to end a query for information. The surfer is the one that decides when and where to go for answers and information (news) in the Internet, and when and where to apply the last click. The unlimited content and the great amount of alternatives available is the magic of the Internet.
I have been reading in the news lately about Mr. Rupert Murdoch’s latest idea of stopping Google from displaying free news summaries from his News Corp. properties and imposing a fee to see the content.

R. Murdoch
This made me start thinking about – “What is it that makes Internet so attractive to everyone?” – and suddenly I understood why Internet is so irresistible and seductive. In my opinion, its fascination is based on the unlimited content it makes possible on any subject, to any person. You start reading about any theme or subject and you can read and read as much as you want, till you feel satisfied. My hypothesis about the unlimited content also explains the success of the wikipedia and similar free content web sites. There are no limits, and that is the Magic of the Internet that Mr. Murdoch resents and wishes to stop… He is willing and determined to kill the chicken of the golden eggs…
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King’s horses, And all the King’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again!
The Internet continues to grow and grow worldwide, and Google’s market share of the search universe also continues to increase, slowly but surely, as can be seen in the graph below. Good things are unstoppable, specially when they are free. To receive, you first have to give a little.
