Nigeria Internet Hits 97 Million
According to figures released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the number of internet users on Nigeria’s telecoms networks has hit 97.21 million in September, 2015. Click the link for more information about Nigeria ICT data.
Africa Internet Population 2015
The Population and stats for Africa have been updated. Check them out at Africa Internet Population. The tables give all the estimates and the graphs help us understand the stats.
For example, the 2015 Q2 Internet Penetration in Africa Graph shows that the average Internet penetration for Africa is 27%, and 48.5% in the rest of the world, not including Africa. Great progress has been made in recent years and the number of Internet users is increasing greatly.
Bangladesh Internet Users 2014
According to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Bangladesh has reached 40,800,000 Internet users in August, 2014. The largest part of them correspond to 39,300,000 mobile Internet users. WiMAX providers account for 271,831 subscribers. Internet service providers and PSTN operators together have 1,231,000 subscribers.

State of Broadband 2014 Report
The Broadband Commission For Digital Development has published its State of Broadband 2014 Report, dated September 21, 2014.
The 110 page report (pdf format) contains interesting insights about the Internet and presents seven Annexes with charts and tables regarding Broadband Policies, fixed and mobile broadband penetration, households and individuals worldwide using the Internet, based on 2013 ITU data. Internet Spanish Speakers
Spanish Speakers in the Internet amounted to 222,406,379 persons at year-end 2013, and represent 7.9% of the total Internet users in the world. Spanish is the third language in importance in the Internet, after English which is first and Chinese (Mandarin) that is second, according to Internet World Stats.
The largest Spanish speaking country in Internet is Mexico, with over 52 million persons using the Internet, followed by Spain with over 35 million Internet users. There are 21 countries in the world where Spanish is the official language. Read more.
Iranian Internet users
Iranian government is making moves to make the Internet more accessible, recently lifting a restriction which capped home internet speeds at 128kbps while also awarding 3G licences to Iran’s two dominant cellular operators, MCI and MTN Irancell. Nevertheless, the country is pushing ahead with its national intranet project which aims to create a closed network of approved websites.
Iran’s Center for Research and Strategic Studies has found that more than two-thirds of the country’s young people regularly use the internet. Their survey found that of the 67.4% of Iranian young people who use the internet, 19.1% use the net for chatting, 15.3% for the social media, 15.2% for games and fun-surfing, and 10.4% use the World Wide Web for scientific researches. Survey respondents were aged between 15 and 29.

12 Million Internet Users in Ecuador
Ecuador has reached 12,116,687 Internet users as of June 2014, according to Supertel, the country’s Telecommunications Regulating Agency. The penetration rate is 77.4%, a very impressive figure that also includes the Mobile Internet users. Read more
Africa Internet Stats for year-end 2013
Africa year-end 2013 Internet Stats ready for uploading. The current population for Africa is estimated at 1,125,721,038 and Internet users have reached 240,146,482. The penetration rate is now 21.3%, showing great progress for the continent in Internet access. Broadband speeds have also improved, according to the Ookla Net Index.
632 Million Internet Users in China
Internet users in China are up 2.3 percent totaling 632 million on June 30, 2014, from 618 million at year-end of 2013, according to CNNIC statistics report.
China is part of the five BRICS countries, together with Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa. This group of countries are considered the five mayor emerging economies in the world.
